Most companies that continuously produce cultivation bags use high pressure sterilization.
Seasonal Ganoderma lucidum cultivation professionals only use the sterilization process for
3 months a year, so they do not purchase high pressure sterilizers. Instead, they use manual
forklifts to push the sterilization cart loaded with Ganoderma lucidum short-segment cultivation
bags into a simple normal pressure sterilization room built with canvas. Two small boilers supply
steam at normal pressure (steam volume 0.5 tons/hour). It only takes 3 to 4 hours to quickly rise
to 102°C and maintain it for more than 14 hours. It must be kept warm for 12 hours without
dropping the temperature continuously to sterilize thoroughly.
China's Wuping and Gutian sterilization carts have become standard for normal pressure
sterilization assistance, improving work efficiency. More importantly, after using the sterilization
cart, it is easy for steam to flow between cultivation bags, and "big dumplings" become
"small dumplings", making sterilization easier and more thorough. In the short-segment
Ganoderma lucidum cultivation bag, there are gaps between the short-segment wood,
so cold air is trapped in the bag, which expands and is quickly discharged through normal
pressure sterilization. The temperature in the south is high in winter, so it is feasible to use
a simple canvas sterilizer; in northern China, the temperature is too low and it is not suitable.
The use of a sterilization cart in Fujian, China is worth learning from for all growers. What we
pursue is not to control the number of molds in the sterilizer, but to ensure that live steam
flows over the surface of all cultivation bags (sticks) at any time, and the purpose is to sterilize
thoroughly..
