High-quality spawn is the key to stable yield and good profits. Good spawn plus scientific management
makes cultivation easier and more efficient; poor spawn cannot bring ideal harvests even with good planting skills.
2. Three-level Classification of Oyster Mushroom Spawn
Oyster mushroom adopts three-stage expanded cultivation:Mother Spawn → Original Spawn → Cultivation
SpawnStep-by-step inoculation and expansion to increase spawn quantity and help mycelium adapt to
growing medium.
3. Mother Spawn
Cultivated in glass test tubes with agar medium.Pure mycelium isolated from oyster mushroom fruiting body.
Mainly used for spawn preservation and later expanded breeding.Too many subcultures will cause spawn
degeneration, so subculture times should be controlled.
4. Original Spawn (Secondary Spawn)
Inoculate mother spawn into medium like sawdust, cottonseed hulls, wheat grains.Usually cultured in
glass/plastic spawn bottles.1 tube of mother spawn can inoculate about 5 bottles of original spawn.
Can also be cultivated in liquid medium or plastic bags.
5. Cultivation Spawn (Tertiary / Production Spawn)
Inoculate original spawn into similar nutrient medium for further expansion.Packed in plastic bags,
directly used to inoculate oyster mushroom growing bags.Cannot be expanded again for further breeding,
otherwise mycelium vitality and yield will drop.1 bottle of original spawn can inoculate about 20 bags of
cultivation spawn.
