I. Strain Selection Domestic Flammulina has yellow and white varieties (by fruiting body color). White (a yellow variant) has white caps/stipes,
hairy bases, 1-2 harvests (lower yield), and suits export/factory cultivation. Yellow has crisp stipes, 3-4 harvests (high yield)
and good flavor. "Sanming No. 1" (1982) boosted production.
II. High-Quality Strain Standards - **Mother culture**: White/light gray mycelium, initially fluffy, later adhering to medium; yellows medium. Grows fast (yellow
fills slopes in 10-12 days at 20-22°C, white slower). Aging: brown patches, powdery/yellowish look, shrunken fruiting bodies;
excess powdery spores are poor. - **Stock strain**: White, flocculent, dense mycelium (yellow fills 750ml bottles in ~30 days, white ~35 days). Weakness: drying,
shrinking, autolysis (reddish-brown liquid), yellowing (aging), sparse mycelium, excess fruiting bodies (unsuitable).
